What You Can and Can't Put in Our Skip Bins
Skip bin hire on the Central Coast works best when the right bin is matched to the right material before delivery. Here is a plain summary of what Economy Waste Group accepts across the fleet and what cannot go in any skip bin.
Accepted waste types:
Most standard skip bins accept mixed waste and brick and concrete. Green waste bins accept garden and vegetation waste — but note that green waste does not include soil or grass. Soil is accepted separately and only in the 2T through 7T Marrell bins.
Our fleet covers the 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, 7T and 10T Marrell bins and the 13H, 18H and 28H hook bins. Each size accepts specific material types — check our skip bin sizes page for the full accepted list before you book.
Not accepted in any skip bin:
- Chemicals
- Needles, syringes or sharps
- Batteries
- Liquids — including paint, paint cans and unknown liquids

Asbestos and Hazardous Materials: What We Can and Can't Take
Standard skip bins cannot accept hazardous waste — that includes chemicals, sharps, batteries and liquids such as paint. This applies across all bin sizes on the Central Coast, regardless of how the material is packaged.
What we can do for asbestos:
Economy Waste Group offers a dedicated Asbestos Skip. When you book this service, we supply a Haz-Mat bag to safely secure the asbestos material before it is loaded. The bin is then transported directly to the local council tip. This is a separate service to a standard skip hire and needs to be arranged specifically — call us on (02) 4325 1800 before ordering so the right setup is in place before delivery.
Recognising asbestos-containing material before you book:
If you are renovating a Central Coast home built before 1990, it is worth confirming whether the material you are removing may contain asbestos before a bin is delivered. Common materials to check include:
- Older fibro (fibrous cement) sheeting on walls, ceilings or eaves
- Bathroom demolition waste from pre-1990 bathrooms
- Vinyl floor tiles from older homes
The rules around fibro disposal have changed, and current requirements should be confirmed before you proceed.
